HS onTray Hospital Meal Ordering Levels Up Patient Experience

HS onTray Hospital Meal Ordering Levels Up Patient Experience

More than anything, the primary goal of HS onTray is to take the hospital meal ordering experience to the next level. This update introduces features that ensure a more intuitive and user-friendly ordering process. It is now easier for patients to understand what to expect in their order while reducing situations where their selections must be changed by the diet office. These improvements provide a seamless and positive meal-ordering experience, ultimately contributing to higher patient satisfaction.

Nutrient Limit Visualizations

Patients have very little control over their day-to-day when staying at a hospital. Hospital meal ordering is one of the few times that patients have a degree of control. It can be dispiriting to have something delicious they’ve selected from the menu removed from their order because of a nutritional requirement.

A Nutrients Tracking section will appear at the top of each menu displaying a small chart for each of a patient’s assigned nutrient limits. As the patient adds menu items to their order, the charts will update with a percentage of how close they are to reaching the maximum amount allowed per meal.

The chart changes color from green to yellow to red as the number gets closer and closer to 100%. If the patient exceeds any of their nutrient limits for the meal, they will not be able to submit their order, but they can still select or remove menu items to find the best combination of selections possible that will provide them a nourishing (and nutritious!) meal.

This feature has the added effect of providing patient education during the hospital meal ordering process. Patients will make more informed choices about what food they are putting on their tray. Even better, they don’t have to worry about a completely different order being delivered to their room–for example, because they chose too many menu items with high sodium values.

Visual Communication Using Recipe Images

Your organization can now upload and assign recipe images. These images will appear next to the associated menu items in HS onTray. The benefits of this new feature are two-fold:

  • Images help set patient expectations of what will appear on their tray for both portion size and appearance.
  • Images also help better communicate what each menu item is to patients who are non-native English-speakers.

Some patients may also just feel more comfortable with their menu selections if they know exactly what is going to show up on their tray. Recipe images help you communicate to your patients what nourishing food will be delivered bedside in their order.

Boosted Satisfaction

HS onTray introduces a variety of enhancements aimed at making the hospital meal ordering process more intuitive, engaging, and personalized for patients, ultimately enhancing their overall hospital experience. Contact us today to learn more!
