Software Design & Quality Assurance Specialist

Put your nutrition and food knowledge to use in a unique setting. Computrition allows you to creatively use computers in nutrition and food service.

General Description:

This is a full-time position working as a member of the Product Advancement Team under the direct supervision of the Vice President of Design & Quality Assurance. The position requires working daily from our Development Office based in Bedford, Massachusetts.

This is an exciting position where the individual will be intimately involved with the entire development process. In this position, the individual builds the initial product architecture from initial concept through complete design for development. The individual then works with the developers to bring the application to life. Once developed, the individual will be responsible for Quality Assurance prior to delivery to our Customers.


Specific Job Functions include:

  1. Software Design
    1. Work as part of the Product Advancement team to create new and update existing software design documents for Computrition software products with primary emphasis on the Hospitality Suite.
    2. Responsibilities include:
      1. Rewarding participation in team brainstorming and problem solving sessions
      2. The collection and organization of the individual software requirements for each software enhancement
      3. The entry and update of enhancements into the development tracking software (DevTrack)
      4. Completion of the actual Microsoft Word design documents including the creating and updating of user interface screens, field specifications, and sample reports.
  1. Software Quality Assurance
    1. Work as part of the Product Advancement Team to test and approve all Computrition software prior to release.
    2. Responsibilities include:
      1. Assist Quality Assurance Lead in actual testing of the software in various user environments
      2. Update and create test plans used in the actual testing
      3. Regression test existing software features to assure continued quality

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in all areas of Foodservice Operations Management (Food Purchasing, Physical Inventories, Food Preparation and Production Scheduling, Menu Planning/Costing, etc.)
  • Experience with the use of any previous foodservice software a plus
  • Additional experience or knowledge in Patient Care Management (Diet Office Management) or Nutrition a plus
  • General Proficiency with Word 2007, Microsoft Paint
  • Competent in working effectively with minimal supervision and to take initiative in problem solving
  • Ability to complete assigned workload effectively; considered a self-starter and viewed as a dependable employee
  • Willingness to assist co-workers when needed and to perform duties over and above those listed in the job description, including special projects
  • Ability to maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude necessary to achieve team goals
  • Ability to identify business problems and to creatively develop the approach to solving the problem.
