Computrition, Inc. - With Respect to Sustainability:
It is Computrition’s mission and aim to act as stakeholders of the environment and our community, as well as protectors of our team and customers as a result. We are steadfast in our desire to maintain fair business practices and to cultivate valuable industry partnerships with
fellow vendors and suppliers aspiring to affect the same initiative.
Computrition commits to make each business decision with consideration to its ultimate environmental, social, fiscal and fair-trade impact in mind.
Our Mission in Action:
PRODUCT
- Our products in their nature have a tremendous impact on the reduction of paper waste throughout our customers’ operations
- We perform consistent research on the most environmentally sound methods to eliminate the carbon footprint and emissions created from our normal business practices
- A corporate decision has been made to extend scheduled update releases from approximately every 6-8 months to 12-18 month intervals to ease our customers’ daily business practices,
as well as to reduce the volume of CDs and the respective emissions created in the shipping process therein
- We offer truly integrated and dynamic interfaces with other best-of-breed technology vendors, reducing hardware/server required maintenance, quantities and operations customers are able to run multiple software solutions from or through a single server
- We provide customers with the option to deploy via a managed hosting service model so as not to require the acquisition of potentially unnecessary additional hardware
MARKETING
- We are revamping all marketing materials, quantities required for distribution, and are employing the sole use of FSC compliant printing partners
- We are creating new product packaging in collaboration with our selected printing partners to ensure reduction of energy waste, while promoting visual appeal
- All marketing materials and product demos are posted on www.computrition.com to reduce paper waste and unnecessary fuel consumption in transport
- We have transitioned almost all trade show booth décor from an older 2,500 pound wood crate to a 35 pound reusable plastic self-contained unit
OPERATIONS
- We supply traditional ceramic coffee mugs and beverage glassware to team members in lieu of disposables
- When possible, we support arranging for web-based presentations rather than on-site product demos to reduce fuel consumption in transport
- We allow team members to telecommute whenever possible and we position sales, training, and implementation team members regionally to reduce time, energy, and fuel
- Posting all internal documents in a central electronic repository to reduce the paper trail is standard practice in each of our offices
- Lights are always turned off and equipment is unplugged when not in use
- All light bulbs in our corporate office have been changed to fluorescent bulbs and we've suggested that our team members
do the same at home
- Each of our employees were given a live plant for their desk, on Earth Day, to replace the oxygen depleted from overhead lighting and computer usage
BEYOND THE OFFICE
- Additionally, we encourage Computrition team members, along with anyone interested in improving our communities and environment to consider making these minor changes that make a tremendous impact:
Use Blackle instead of Google to conserve power. The display is all in black, thus uses less power to display.
Where applicable, purchase vintage or consignment clothing instead of new. This can be found at Goodwill, Buffalo Exchange, Ebay or local consignment stores for higher quality item. (http://www.buffaloexchange.com)
Use refillable “Klean Kanteen” instead of water bottles. It can help save the land fills of the world. (http://www.kleankanteen.com)
Cardboard boxes: Why buy new when you can re-use? Again, it can help save the land fills. A great resource is http://www.usedcardboardboxes.com. They have great deals and ship free directly to any United States home or business.
Dry cleaning: Return the wire hangers. To recycle them is much better than just throwing them away.
Give the gift of sight by donating old eye glasses. A great resource for donating old pairs of glasses is uniteforsight.org.
