FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 28, 2010, Chatsworth, CA - Computrition Inc., a leading developer of hospitality, food management and patient care automation, presents with great pleasure this year’s Prodigy Award to Geisinger Health System (GHS) in first place and Halton Healthcare in second place. Among the astounding submittals for this contest, all of which uniquely reflected the foodservice operational successes achieved through the use of Computrition’s solutions, these two facilities showcased exceptional results.
Geisinger Health System is a multi-site operation, which implemented Hospitality Suite in 2005 in order to attain a fully-integrated, yet versatile system that met the demands of the healthcare foodservice environment. All purchasing, inventory, and production is achieved with the use of Computrition’s Foodservice Operations Management module. GHS has effectively integrated Hospitality Suite with their system-wide electronic medical records, allowing physicians access to diet order information in real-time. Additionally, in 2008 the GHS foodservice team started the Geisinger Healthy Selections program geared towards elevating the visibility and importance of healthy eating by creating a culture that supports the efforts of making healthier food choices. Hospitality Suite plays an integral role in this program as all nutrient information is reviewed at the recipe level. Point-of-sale posting of nutrient information for all items served is critical to the success of the program. GHS Associate VP of Guest Services, Bruce Thomas highlighted the significance of Hospitality Suite by acknowledging how "We are all being asked to do more, with less. I can tell you that the system has brought us consistency in process and information is readily available for trends, benchmarking, and responding to patient concerns."
Halton Healthcare, based in Ontario Canada, comprises of three facilities serving 1,500 patient meals daily and accommodating 450,000 meals annually. In 2008, Halton transitioned the diet offices processing of diet order entry, menu customization and reporting to one centralized location. Consequently, Halton has seen a substantial decrease in the month-end accounting process, year-end inventory count and raw food cost per patient day. With the ever-increasing attention being placed on patient safety by healthcare providers, Director of Clinical Nutrition & Food Services, Elma Hrapovich stated that since implementing Computrition’s solutions, Halton has acquired "increased patient safety, as the ability to monitor and respond to food recall data has also increased since we know exactly what is being purchased."
Computrition extends an honorable mention to the following customers: Salem Hospital, Helen Hayes Hospital, Kansas State University, Providence Health & Services, Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Medical City Dallas, Northwest Hospital & Medical Center and Concord Hospital.
